Events

I will be returning to Aurora, Colorado with the Baptist Collegiate Ministries of Rogers State University of Claremore, OK; Oklahoma City Community College, and Bacone College of Muskogee, OK.  Together, we will minister with the Karen people who came to the US from Burma as refugees in years past.  These are precious people who legally came to our country from horrific circumstances in their own country.

There will be much we can do to help them, but there will also be much they will do to encourage us.  I know this from experience!  If you have a moment, read my thoughts from last year’s trip.

Last year, as I shared my own story with the people, I was overcome by their compassion.  They know what it means to lose their family.  I truly cannot imagine what it must have been like to lose their family to genocide – or to survive only to be split up and sent to whatever country would take them in. Yet their faith shines in their eyes.  When you walk through darkness, the light of God’s love shines like the stars on a dark night, and reflects in your eyes.  I can think of no better description for these beautiful people of God.
